The Last New Moon Of The Year- Out With The Old And In With The New & Improved!

Good Morning Friends.

Today, (or yesterday the  28th, depending on what part of the world you live) we have our last new moon of the year, and it’s in the steadfast and goal-oriented sign of the goat, Capricorn.

We are coming upon the end of 2016- a “9” year, a year of many endings and a whole lot of energy shaking and shifting.  The heaviness of the past year has been felt universally.  Now, we are entering 2017, which is a “1” year.  New beginnings.  Time to start fresh.  Time to renew.  Time to grab a hold of our dreams, goals and aspirations and kick some butt!  After all, Capricorn is one of the most ambitious signs of the zodiac, and likely we are all going into the new year with high hopes and expectations.  At the very least, we have a clearer vision of where we would like to go next.  It’s time to get planning!

The future is bright, and under this new moon which is riding along with us into 2017, it’s really important that we use this lunar energy wisely and manifest nothing but all things wonderful!

Capricorn is ruled by the planet of serious Saturn- a.k.a- “Lord Karma”, the planet of lessons, the keeper of time.  Capricorn is a very stable and grounded earth sign. Sometimes a bit too serious, but always determined, Capricorn wants us to focus on our inner vision(s) and manifest them into reality.  That is what this New Moon is all about.  This is Capricorn energy.  Set goals, work towards them, reevaluate, and repeat!  Most importantly, remember to have fun in the process.  This is also the last New Moon of the year!

devil2The Tarot Card ruled by Capricorn is “The Devil”.  The Devil is a card that appears to highlight areas of our lives in which we need to release baggage or karma. As Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Saturn rules karma, well, there you have it. This card can also point to addictions- as we head into the New Year many of us make resolutions to give things up that we feel are not serving our highest good.  What are we bonded to? Which beliefs can we drop for our own good as we head into the New Year?  What is no longer serving our growth?  What and who are we ready to let go of, or let into our lives? These are all questions that we should be asking ourselves at this time.

Astrologically, we have a lot going on at this time as well. We’ve got Mercury which is still retrograde, tripping up communication of all forms.  We’ve got Uranus, the planet of change, stationing direct as of today as well.  Expect some “Aha” moments, and likely some very unexpected changes and/or news.  As a good astrologer friend once told me, “don’t fear Uranus as it will always leave you better than you are found”.  In other words, some change is pretty disruptive at first, but once the dust settles we may like where we end up as long as we do not fight against the current. Lastly, Mars, the planet of action, is now in Pisces, a sign of inaction.  It is not a comfortable place for Mars to be.  Pisces is knows to be a bit passive, so as you can imagine between that and Mercury Retro, we may feel the urge to do something, but just not able to exert the drive to really get moving.  That is perfectly okay! Just get those intentions set anyway!

Happy New Year to all! May 2017 bring nothing but beautiful things for all of you <3  I wish you all peace and prosperity.

PS- If you are lucky enough to experience clear skies the night of January 1st,  get outside- there should be a beautiful crescent moon visible!

Heads Up: Mercury Goes Retrograde Today For The Last Time Of 2016!

Good Morning Friends,

Today “officially” starts our last Mercury Retrograde of 2016!  Unfortunately, it will be riding along with us into the 1st of the year….Whoop-de-doo!  😉  (I say officially because Mercury Retrograde has what we call its “shadow phase” which is ten days prior and ten days after the actual date Mercury truly begins its backwards motion- during the shadow periods we tend to feel slight effects of the retrograde as well).

What does this mean?  For those that may not know, Mercury, which is the planet of communication, rules all forms of communication- but also transportation and technology.   Mercury rules coordination as well, so you may just find yourself a bit clumsier than normal!  Mercury goes into its retrograde (backwards) motion at four different times in each year. This one begins today (the 19th) and lasts until January 8, 2017.

Mercury rules the astrological signs of Gemini and Virgo.  Those under these zodiac signs may feel the effects of the retrograde a bit stronger as Mercury is their ruling planet, and they live for communication.

The two tarot cards related to the retrograde would be the Lovers -which is ruled by Gemini and the Hermit-ruled by Virgo.  Coincidentally- (or not since everything is connected) the Lovers is all about choice and soul while the Hermit is about introspection and reflection.  These are both themes under the influence of Mercury Retrograde.  Interesting eh?

During Mercury Retrograde you will notice your computer may go bonkers, emails don’t get delivered and important messages might be missed.  Flights get canceled and/or delayed more often than not, and you may have car trouble.  At this time, miscommunications are highly likely, so you must take care of what you say, do and most importantly, what you write and sign.

*Does this mean you cannot sign important documents during Mercury Retrograde?  NO, that’s not what I am saying.  What I am suggesting however, is that if you must sign any documents make sure to go over everything with a fine-tooth comb so you do not have any unwelcome surprises later.  Have an extra set of eyes that you trust help you out.  As long as you are paying close attention and are aware and vigilant, all should be well.

During Mercury Retrograde, rather than act and react, take the time to slow down and reevaluate.

Review, reconsider, rethink and return for more info at a later date.  Doesn’t sound so bad, does it?

Think of Mercury Retrograde as the universes’ gift to us to not always be in “go” mode.  If you can use this three-week period for reflection and clarity, as opposed to rushing to get things done, you will likely be able to sit back and enjoy the crazy ride!

I always laugh at the synchronicity that occurs during retrograde periods.  Not necessarily because it’s funny (quite the contrary, it’s usually annoying), but because it just would figure that these things would happen during retrograde.  (Example: flight cancellation for no apparent reason, computer logging me out of wordpress WITHOUT saving what I wrote- yes these happened).  I learned a long time ago to laugh  at these nuisances and roll with the punches because getting aggravated doesn’t change it, it only invites more stress.

Stones to work with during Mercury Retrograde

I love to work with crystals as they have amazing metaphysical properties.  All stones have several different properties and meanings.  During Mercury Retrograde, there are a few stones that I work with religiously to help keep me sane and grounded.

Clear Quartz- this one is an obvious one.  Clear Quartz quite literally, clears.  Keep this stone on you or around you to help keep your vision clear as well as your thoughts. When the craziness of retrograde gets you down, just stare into this clear crystal to gain clarity.

Blue Lace Agate- this beautiful stone is great for guiding us in clear communication with others, communication that resonates rather than offends.  As a blue stone, it also represents the throat chakra- speaking ones truth.  Remember: when you communicate in a grounded and calm way, you create the space for others to show up the same way!

Hematite- this blackish/gray stone is great for staying grounded, especially useful for all technology.  Keep a piece near your computer and your phone to help lessen the effect of potential “snafus”.  It will also keep you feeling your feet are planted firmly so that as you communicate, you will do so clearly.

Be well!

Today Is Our Last Full Moon Of The Year- And It’s A SuperMoon In Chatty & Transitional Gemini. Bonus: Horoscopes For You By Yours Truly!

Happy Full Moon!

Tonight we have a Full Super Moon in Gemini, as of 7:06 PM EST.  Take some time out of the holiday hustle and bustle to bask in the energy of this moon- it is a strong one and although slightly lighthearted emotionally (like it’s ruler Gemini) it is still intense.  Full Moon energy is typically felt three days prior and three days after, although sometimes even five!

Main message under this Full Moon in Gemini: Speak your truth!  It’s long overdue. But be careful how you do so, as you don’t want to get dragged into any ugly conversations. Aside from this Moon being in chatty Gemini, it is also making alignments to pretty much every planet in our solar system!  So that means that every zodiac sign will be involved in the game of change.  None of us are safe 😉

Today is our Full Moon, then Mercury goes retrograde for the last time of the year on 12/19 (YIPPEE), we have the Winter Solstice on 12/21 (the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest in the Southern Hemisphere ) then it’s Christmas, and then a bright New Moon in Capricorn on the 29th.  Anything is possible at this time.  Lots of change, lots of shifting. Change is inevitable at this time and what has been avoided is likely to come up.

Take time and take care to relax this month in between the running around and the chaos. Take time to express yourself, to express your truth.  After all, Gemini is all about communication- heart to heart conversations are more likely to occur under this Moon. Take care to speak your truth, but be mindful to do so lovingly.  With Mercury almost retrograde things can and will get misconstrued, so be careful how you may come across.

Gemini is also a mutable sign and loves variety, also loves lighthearted fun.  There is a comical side to this sign as well.  Expect some very stimulating conversation, and fun times to be at the forefront.  Remember to also remain open to all possibilities.  People are likely to pop back up from the past, and old situations that have not been dealt with come back around.  Ask yourself: “what do I feel I need to change”?  “what am I avoiding”?  “where  should I direct my energy”?  Quiet your mind, get centered and get prepared.  There’s something buzzing underneath the surface for all of us at this time, and if we stop and tune in, we can grasp it.

Full Moons are all about clearing the space of the old to make way for the new- and this Gemini Full Super Moon is all about that!  For those that work with crystals, tonights Full Moon is the perfect time to charge them.  I like to put my stones in a large wooden box and put them right in the earth under the moonlight for 24 hours.  If you are not comfortable leaving them outside, feel free to leave them on your windowsill.  You can also forgo the box (weather permitting) and leave the stones right atop the grass, as I often do with the ones I use the most. Once I bring them inside, I wipe them down lightly with a damp cloth, and that’s it-they are now ready for more magic!

Ladies:  Full Moons are also a great time to clean out that bag/purse that is a bottomless pit 😉  I don’t know about you, but I always feel so much lighter after cleaning my purse out. Ah, it’s the little things!

Try and have some fun!

Here are your December Full Moon Horoscopes Written by me (Ruling Tarot Card Included)  If you know your Rising Sign, please go by that Horoscope as well!

Aries- The Emperor.  This month is all about your professional life!  Make sure to get out there and socialize, as more business opportunities will crop up for you and through unexpected channels.  Job changes and successful deals are likely.  We know you love control, but make sure to let loose and have a little fun!

Taurus- The Hierophant.  Stop trying to be everyones savior this month, and expect and more importantly, accept some help from others.  Don’t be so stubborn.  Go to that party with your friends.  Be careful not to overindulge in food and drink this season, as this is easy for this sign. Don’t overspend either, the potential is high right now.

Gemini-The Lovers. Drop the fear. This is your month with the Full Moon in your sign and it’s influence is strongest upon you.  It is time to make some choices.  Out with the old and in with the new!  You especially need to set some Full Moon intentions for the year ahead! Luck is on your side.   Although you thrive in dual situations, eventually you need to make a choice for your own sanity.

Cancer-The Chariot- Ego clashes are huge for you this month, Dear Cancer.  But it’s clashes within yourself.  You are also in decision making mode where you hate to be, and you’re very sensitive nature is feeling overwhelmed.  Remember this: which is more painful?  Staying the same or taking a risk to make some well needed changes? Stay calm but don’t retreat into your shell too much this month.

Leo-Strength- While you typically roar to be heard, this month finds you actually shying away from the limelight.  You are more introverted than usual, and not likely to be feeling very festive.  Put on your brightest outfit, and get out there anyway. Shine on. Reconnecting with an estranged family member is likely.  Make sure to make time for your nearest and dearest this holiday season.

Virgo-The Hermit- While you are typically very organized, this month finds you feeling frazzled. You are wanting to do something a little “crazy”, perhaps throw caution to the wind.  While that is all fine and well, just be careful to take your head with your heart!  You are feeling forgetful as well, more so than usual.  You’re not going crazy!  You don’t always have to be perfect.  Drop the self judgement.

Libra-Justice- Balance is always important to you, and this month finds you overextending yourself.  In doing so, you become imbalanced. Your immune system is extra sensitive at this time so take care to cover you throat and ears especially. Make sure you are getting enough sleep at this time.  Remember: pleasing others is secondary to making sure you are comfortable.

Scorpio-Death- The past few months have been quite strange for you, Dear Scorpio! Guess what?  It’s about to get even more strange!  Expect a lot of psychic premonitions, vivid dreams, and lots of events that seem to be orchestrated by the universe.  You may want to bury your head in the sand, but you must come out and face the music.  You will be better for it.

Sagittarius-Temperance- You are all about having fun right now!  While that is all fine and well, take care to stay in control.  Over-doing it is quite likely for you at this time.  You are about to plan or embark on your next adventure,  as your soul is feeling restless.  Your mantra: Moderation is key.

Capricorn-The Devil- Oh poor Capricorn. You have taken an emotional beat-down this year, with planet Pluto (planet of cleaning house, rebirth & transformation)  looming over you for quite some time…the good news?  The pressure is lifting.  You can sense it. Your New Moon is upon us.  It’s time for you to have some fun again!  Let go of the past and stop beating yourself up.

Aquarius-The Star- You’re  all about healing at this time.  You’ve been feeling kind of low the past few weeks, and you’ve lost your stamina.  But it’s coming back full circle now, and right in time for some holiday cheer! Projects that were in a holding pattern are now moving ahead as planned, easing your worries.  Eat drink and be merry, you deserve it!

Pisces-The Moon- You are feeling quite happy right now.  After a long period of feeling stuck and indecisive, you are ready to make your decisions and to make them final.  You will surprise people with your assertiveness now. Don’t lay all of your cards on the table either- you want to be little secretive about your personal goals.  Keep moving forward fearlessly.  You are embarking on new territory and while it might feel scary, it is liberating for you.

Hope you all have a beautiful week!

Virtual Dinner Party? I’m In! Review Of Two Amazing Recipes

Hi Everyone,

Typically I write about topics that are of a spiritual nature…and today we are talking about food!  Food feeds our body but it also feeds our soul :)

My lovely sister co-authored a cookbook with a friend.  This is no ordinary cookbook-  It has quickly climbed the ranks to one of Amazons Best Sellers, and rightfully so!  Here’s a link to the book

Visit the website at

What a Good Eater! is a cookbook of baby and toddler recipes with healthy herbs and spices to add flavor and broaden your baby’s palate.  It’s a guide for parents to confidently feed their babies and toddlers wholesome, healthy, age-appropriate foods which help promote a diverse palate right from the get-go. It’s a great gift for the holidays as well as baby showers!

I have given this book as gifts to several friends with little ones, or with little ones on the way and they consistently rave about it.  Even if you do not consider yourself someone that can cook, I’m telling you, this recipe book is extremely easy to follow!  While I don’t have children, I have watched my sisters children HAPPILY devour several meals that are right out of this book! The best part is that they are healthy and hearty enough for the whole family to enjoy.

When I was asked if I would like to join in on this virtual dinner party, I happily agreed.  I LOVE to cook, and I LOVE to share so it’s a win-win in my book!  What is a virtual dinner party you ask?  We cook , we eat and we blog about it, it’s that simple!

I love Indian Cuisine, so I jumped right to:

Chicken Tikka Masala (p. 111) (Photo while it was cooking and smelling heavenly)

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic paste
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground clove
  • 2 teaspoons tandoori masala (spice mixture purchased from Indian grocery or ethnic food market)
  • 1 pound organic boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into ½-inch-by-½-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce, no sodium added
  • 1¼ cups half-and-half, preferably organic
  • *Optional: fresh cilantro, finely minced for garnish

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onions and fry until they are lightly browned, about 5–8 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium and add the garlic and ginger pastes. Stir continuously for 30 seconds to prevent burning. Add the coriander, cinnamon, clove, and tandoori masala, and cook for approximately 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. Add the chicken and salt, and stir to incorporate the spices. Cook the chicken for 4–5 minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally. Cover the pan with a tight-fitted lid and continue cooking for another 4–5 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink in the center. Slowly add the tomato sauce and half-and-half, and stir to combine well. Cook for 1–2 minutes
  3. Remove from the heat and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Allow the chicken to cool, remove your baby’s portion, and spoon-feed or serve bite-size pieces appropriate for your child. For adults looking to add more flavor and spice, you can optionally add freshly minced green chilies to the adult portion only.

Review: I must say, I was expecting to add a lot of spices at the end, as I LOVE spicy. But this was SO flavorful just as is, I left it alone!  My adult dinner guests agreed and gobbled it up as well!  Winner in my book.  It was quick, easy and absolutely delicious!!  I will definitely be making this again.

While I have made Chicken Tikka Masala many times before, the recipes have always been very labor intensive.  This one has ALL the benefits of the taste, and literally HALF the prep/cook time I’ve experienced before.  Even more of a reason this will be my go-to!

Here’s a picture of the final result before I gobbled it all up!
Oh, and if you don’t have a Vidalia Chop Wizard, you need one in your life!  One of the authors graciously gifted this to me.  It made chopping those onions and everything else a BREEZE!  The Vidalia Chop Wizard is a tool that literally chops your prep time in half.
I also have to mention the other goody that was sent,  an Infinity Jar.   Love this!  It’s a light-proof jar with an airtight seal, and it’s perfect for storing herbs.  Makes a great gift for the cook in your life!
On to recipe #2!
(Your mouth should be watering right now) :)
Two nights after I made the Chicken, I was flipping through this awesome cookbook and my eye was drawn to the Coconut Curry Goan Fish (pg. 91), so time to make this!
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons green onion, finely minced
  • 1½ teaspoons fresh garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided (optional: we recommend adding salt only for babies 12 mo+)
  • 1¼ cups light coconut milk, preferably organic
  • 2 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar with the “mother”
  • 4 steelhead trout filets, about 6 ounces each*
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, finely minced
  • Juice of ½ lemon, for sprinkling
  • Plain yogurt, preferably organic (optional)
  1. In a large sauté pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the green onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir continuously for about 1 minute to prevent burning. Add the turmeric, coriander, cumin, and ¼ teaspoon salt (if using). Sauté, stirring continuously, for 1 minute. Add the coconut milk and vinegar. Stir well and simmer the mixture uncovered for approximately 5 minutes.
  2. Season the fish with ¾ teaspoon salt and carefully add it to the pan. (If the fish has the skin on, add it skin side up, flesh side down in the pan.) Cover and cook for approximately 10 minutes or until the fish is fully cooked and the flesh flakes apart easily with a fork. (Take care not to overcook the fish, or the meat will become tough.) Remove the fish from the pan, sprinkle with cilantro, and squeeze fresh lemon juice to taste.
  3. To serve to baby, mash or cut the fish into bite-size pieces appropriate for your child, and serve! If your baby seems hesitant at first, try mixing the fish with a little bit of plain yogurt or one of her favorite purees. Adults looking for additional flavor and spice can add freshly minced jalapeno to the adult portions.

*Note: You may try replacing steelhead trout with a different type of fish, such as salmon, perch, or whitefish, but cooking time may vary slightly based on the type and thickness of the fish. If you can only find fish with the skin on, ask your local market to remove it for time savings.

  The finished product below
Review: this was SUPER SIMPLE to make, and the sauce was absolutely divine.  I plan to make this sauce and throw it over vegetables, or anything really.  It.Was.So.Good!  A friend of mine stopped by while I was cooking and she had her four-year old son with her.  I gave him some to sample and he said “YUMMY”.  Winner Winner!  This will be going on their dinner menu for this weekend as well!
Thanks for these wonderful recipes!  This was so much fun!  Don’t forget to visit

Shameless Plug: One of My Readings Has Been Published!

Good Morning Friends,

Last week I wrote in to “Economist” magazine in regards to a cover they put out after the election,  in which Tarot Cards were displayed.

All of the cards were Major Arcana cards, and I felt compelled to write an interpretation. Well…it was published!

The link is below in case you are interested.
